This project, as part of my Kimberly-Clark co-op, entails designing a new mechanism for a filter change that avoids the safety risks of using a hammer in an excessive manner. The new design, as shown in the SolidWorks assembly below, includes utilizing a hydraulic cylinder connected to a hand pump, welded on a carbon steel H-beam to handle the pressure. I also designed a mechanism for it to be retracted when not in use.
In this project, I was tasked as part of my Kimberly-Clark co-op to design a new mechanism for lifting a set of 80 pound bars used on an asset. After different design iterations and consulting with the safety team, the below SolidWorks design was approved. It considers all the design elements and constraints and is rated for 400 pounds.
In this design project, I worked in a team of 4 to build a walking cane that can extend as a grabber and can also work as a golf club when turned the other way. I was responsible of designing the mechanism of the lever that can extend the two grabbers. We designed the product on SolidWorks then used some 3D printing and manufacturing to assemble the prototype.
In this project, I was tasked to design the ductwork for a fume exhaust system within an extremely limited time frame. This task was part of a much larger, mill-wide, project to replace huge parts of an asset. The fume exhaust plenum was originally planned to be on the same floor close to the asset, but an interference was found when installing it. This resulted in a deviation of the original plan to move the plenum to the floor above and running pipes to the original location.
A part of my international Summer 2023 research internship, I was responsible of modeling the diffusion of Nitrogen and Carbon in Nitrided Steels. The process was performed using Python 3.0, and it included the usage of curve-fitting techniques and machine learning algorithms. The predictive algorithm worked by providing it several experimental profiles of Carbon and Nitrogen at different temperatures and time, and it will then be able to accurately predict each profile at any specific paramete
